FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – “These hands don’t haze” – the slogan that Greek organizations are using all across campus to mark the start of a very important week.

The slogan is a campaign being used to bring awareness to National Hazing Prevention Week which began Monday and will continue on through September 23. The University of Arkansas’s Greek organizations are using this week to focus on important issues surrounding the treatment of their members.

The theme for 2022 is STRONGER TOGETHER and focuses on mental health and how it relates to hazing and prevention. This week will feature five days of conversation surrounding hazing prevention.

According to stophazing.org, Hazing refers to “any activity expected of someone joining or participating in a group that humiliates, degrades, abuses, or endangers them regardless of [their] willingness to participate.” Hazing is a national issue that has been specifically present in Panhellenic and Interfraternity groups.
