FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – Fayetteville police arrested a man involved in the fatal shooting that took place at a McDonald’s on N. College Avenue Tuesday night.
On Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, an arrest warrant was obtained for Keyvon Jarrett, 22, for capital murder. Police said Jarrett turned himself in to Conway police the following morning. He was then taken to the Washington County Jail where he remains in custody.
Police say Jarrett was arrested in connection with a murder in the McDonald’s parking lot Tuesday night. According to information released by the Fayetteville Police Department, officers responded to the incident after gunshots were heard around 10 p.m. A victim was found with a gunshot wound. Officers provided medical assistance until EMS arrived to take the victim to the hospital where he then passed away. The victim was later identified as 28-year-old Edwin “Ed” Swan. Based on a Facebook post from Monica Swan-Giles, his 29th birthday would have been just a day after the incident.
Following the arrest of Keyvon Jarrett, a sheriff made a connection between the suspect and another crime. Crawford County Sheriff Jim Damante says Jarrett also tried to rob a man at a gas station in Rudy, Arkansas – just days after the incident in Fayetteville. The same day his arrest warrant was obtained, Jarrett reportedly approached a man filling up his RV at the gas station and demanded his wallet. When the man revealed his own weapon, Jarrett fled, firing two shots. According to police, investigators are currently seeking a warrant against Jarrett for this case as well.
In regards to the capital murder charges Jarrett is currently facing, Fayetteville police say the investigation is still ongoing.
