FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – The Fayetteville location of the Salvation Army is set to double the capacity of its shelter.
The $1.2 million renovation will separate the addiction recovery program from the shelter, and expand available bedding from 26 to 28 total beds. The existing family housing center will be converted into two apartments including private bathrooms and a shared kitchen.
The recovery program will expand from 20 to 26 beds and will move to a separate building with a lounge, shared kitchen, and restrooms.
The remodeling will also include a computer lab, which will allow guests to search for work, find housing, and reconnect with friends and family.
Financial support for the project comes from the Alice L. Walton Foundation, Willard & Pat Walker Charitable Foundation, The Roberts Family Fund, Excellerate Foundation, Tyson Family Foundation, Fayetteville Central United Methodist Church, and several anonymous donors.
