FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – The Fayetteville Arts Council selected two artists to paint murals on the wall along Archibald Yell Boulevard.

Austin Floyd of Fayetteville was chosen to paint alongside, Jermey Navarette of Springdale, the 516-square-foot concrete wall. Floyd will paint the north end of the wall that currently has the Fayetteville High School Bulldog on it. Navarette will paint the larger mural on the south side of the wall across the first three sections of the wall.

The murals are included with a larger set of improvements planned for Archibald Yell that were a part of the bond issue that was approved in 2019 by Fayetteville voters.

The theme for the murals will be “Experience the Adventure of Fayetteville!”

Floyd’s design will showcase a group of animals that are native to Northwest Arkansas. The animals will be riding along the sidewalk on a skateboard, bicycle, wagon, scooter, and roller skates.

Navarette’s mural will show several images that include flowers, fireflies, a couple walking a dog, a biplane, a mountain biker, a cardinal, and a sunset.

The murals are expected to be worked on later this month.
