FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – Fayetteville has more than 50 miles of trails that are used every day by cyclists, runners, and others. This means trails are always needing maintenance and improvements to keep up with the active community.
Fayetteville officials have decided that the public trails should have a name for themselves and be easier to navigate for its users. The trails now have connecting loops, but they are not easy to traverse.
Fayetteville Mobility Coordinator Dane Eifling says, “We want to try to communicate to people how to use those loops.”
They will do this by adding signage and markers along the trails to help others understand the loops and know how far a specific path will take you. For example, a certain trail might be marked with red markers, so you know you are still on the right path.
This project will begin soon and Eifling says they hope to have markers placed by May.
In addition to ground markings, the city hopes to have a logo for Fayetteville’s trails to establish a new identity. This will also aid in communicating to the public the different personalities of each trail in Fayetteville.
Eifling says this new marking system will, “help people identify routes or experiences they want to have.”
