After making a stop in Fayetteville during the 2021-22 season, the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup will return to the Natural State in 2022.

According to the Cyclo-cross Fayetteville website, Cyclo-cross is one of the fastest growing cycling disciplines in the world and it features a looped course through obstacles and natural elements such as sand and mud. Riders from all over the world join together to race.

The announcement for a return to Fayetteville was made Monday by Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The championships were held at Centennial Park in Fayetteville during late January, marking just the second time in the event’s history that a race was held in the United States.

The race will be held on Oct. 16 at Centennial Park. Fayetteville will join Waterloo, Wisconsin, as the only two American cities to host a race during the 2022-23 season.
