Chair of the School of Journalism and Strategic Media, Larry Foley, has decided to leave what he has started behind and teach classes at the Rome Center Fall 2022.
“Wherever I will be, I will be telling stories,” Foley said. “I’ll just have the opportunity to work with students who will be telling stories. One of the things I like to do is travel and write about where I’m traveling cause there’s always a story.”
Foley will be teaching Ethics in Journalism and a Special Topics class in multi-media storytelling.
“We’ll go out and tell stories about street foods and art museums and the Colosseum,” Foley said. “We’ll immerse ourselves in culture and tell stories from their perspective. Perhaps we’ll tell stories in different languages.”
Beyond the cultural barriers students will face, Foley said they will learn what it means to work in a foreign country. The stories written will be shared on social media.
Foley founded UATV, a student-run broadcast that first went live in the fall of 1996. Though he says he feels that the student media center is in good hands, Foley remarked that he needs a change.
