Full Circle Food Pantry Winter Baskets

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark – As the holiday season begins, students and faculty at the University Of Arkansas can pick up their fall baskets at the Full Circle Food Pantry.

The fall baskets are prepared by volunteers at the pantry and contain anything you would find on the dinner table for Thanksgiving. In order to receive a basket you had to sign up head of time with the full circle food pantry.

Don’t worry if you did not receive a fall basket as the pantry is now taking applications for their winter baskets.

Full Circle Food Pantries chair said, “The winter baskets and fall baskets are two of our four annual baskets that we provide, we also do a spring cleaning basket in the spring and a summer basket near the fourth of july”

The pantry is completely operated by students from the university and serves anyone affiliated with the university or UAMS.

While the fall baskets contain a turkey and stuffing the winter baskets will have a full ham and other delicious side dishes that you would find on the table for christmas.

But not everyone has the same opportunities to eat this holiday season.

This is why everything at the Full Circle Food Pantry is free to anyone at the university who needs it.

A volunteer at the pantry spoke about the importance of having the pantry on campus, “Food insecurity is something not a lot of people know alot about, but it’s a very real issue that a lot of people face and so I think it’s really cool that we have that resource on campus for faculty and staff as well as students here.”

Normally the pantry expects to make around 125 baskets for each event, but this year they made 150 baskets plus extra turkeys.

The University of Arkansas wants to eliminate food insecurities on campus and by having the food pantry open all year they hope this will help.
