Fayetteville, Ark.(UATV) — Coleman Warren was named a 2022 Rhodes Scholar for graduate study at Oxford University. Warren is one of the 32 scholars chosen from more than 2,300 applicants.
The Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest international fellowship intended to bring students from countries around the world to the University of Oxford. These students go on to study for two years at Oxford with eligibility to study for a third year.
Warren said the scholarship reassured him of his life goals.
“It means what I want to do with my life is being affirmed. The Rhodes scholarship looked at me and they believed that I would be the person to serve the state of Arkansas,” he said.
When he first found out he was awarded the scholarship, Warren said he told everyone who helped him get where he is today.
“I immediately screamed and ran around. I called my parents, mentors, friends, and high school teachers. I did a whole lot of yelling and celebrating,” he said.
The University of Arkansas has had 11 Rhodes Scholars. Warren is the first to receive the award since Anna Terry in 2000.
