FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -The University of Arkansas Mullins Library is offering many resources such as books and movies for National Indigenous Heritage Month.
By displaying and giving students and faculty access to these resources they hope to spread the word about the Indigenous people who lived on this land.
The library has created a display in the center of the library with the books and films in alphabetical order and as well as a virtual display with a children’s collection.
The various works for films include We are Water protectors, Wilma’s Way Home, Who is Sitting Bull?, and many others.
The selection of books include After the Trail of Tears, Osage Indian:Customs and Myths, Two Caddo Mound Sites in Arkansas, and Cherokee Tragedy.
Mullin Education Librarian says the collection is a great example of the past.
“Remarkable genealogical and ancestral work related to Colonial Arkansas conducted by Dorothy Core from the early 1960s to the mid-1990s.”
All students and faculty are encouraged to check out one of the books and films on display before the end of the month.
The materials being offered for checkout are collections related to many Indigenous Tribes including Osage, Caddo, Quapaw, Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, Seminole, and Muscogee.
