FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) – The city of Fayetteville will begin taking winter clothing items for those in need starting December 1st.
The coat drive is called “Warm-up Fayetteville” and and was created by many local groups. The items donated will go to children and families in the Fayetteville public school district who don’t have access to warm clothing such as large winter coats, 7Hills Homeless Center and New Beginnings.
A new city council member, D’Andre Jones, says he wants to do more this year to provide warmth to people in Fayetteville compared to past years. He added that he “…doesn’t think we’ve been intentional enough in regards to making sure everyone in Fayetteville has access to warmth. And that means of course coats, blankets, gloves, scarves.”
Gently used coats, hats, scarves or blankets can be donated at the OMNI Center, the UA Center for Multicultural and Diversity Education, or at any Bank of Fayetteville location from December 1st through the 31st.
“Warm-up Fayetteville” partnered with Bank of Fayetteville, the Black Action Collective and the OMNI Center for Peace, Justice and Ecology to make this event possible.
