Fayetteville’s Increased Crime Rates

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark – The Fayetteville police department has reported an increased crime rate in town due to our growing population.

Officer Anthony Murphy with the Fayetteville police department said, “ There’ lots of people moving into the area, and with the people moving in some criminals move in with them.”

As the crime rate has increased Officer Murphy said how residents have left their cars unlocked in their driveways, and how most recovered firearms come from vehicle theft.

Fayetteville police apprehended a suspect involved in a shooting on Kelly Street, located near the intersection of Leverett and Sycamore.

Just fifteen minutes after arriving and seeking medical attention for the victim, police arrested suspect Dorantez Evans.

If residents can remove weapons from their cars before leaving their vehicles and lock the doors to not invite unwanted theft.

The police department thanks the community for working with them during this time, and to report anything suspicious.

Students at the university of Arkansas should report crimes committed on campus to the UAPD.

And any crime committed outside of campus to the FPD.
