FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) — The City of Fayetteville announced that Spin and VeoRide, the city’s two E-Scooter vendors are now offering discounted prices to qualifying low-income riders.
The companies say they hope to make scooter trips more affordable for Fayetteville residents who might otherwise have to rely on walking or public transportation.
Each company charges riders $1 to unlock a scooter and $0.25 per minute to ride.
VeoRide’s low income access program drops the unlock fee and only charges the $0.25 per minute ride cost.
Spin’s program decreases the unlock fee to $0.50 and charges just $0.07 per minute to ride.
Those hoping to enroll in the programs can provide proof of enrollment in local, state or federal benefits programs to access the discount. Documents from assistance programs such as Medicaid, Snap or EBT are considered acceptable proof of enrollment.
“This is an exciting offer for low-income Fayetteville residents,” said Dane Eifling, Mobility Coordinator for the City of Fayetteville. “E-Scooters provide quick, flexible transportation without the problems associated with parking, maintenance or licensing. For low-income residents who don’t drive, these special prices can make getting to work or school much faster and easier.”
