FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- Yesterday the Arkansas Razorback men’s basketball team season came to an end with a loss to the Baylor Bears 81-72.
Though eliminated in the elite eight the hogs had a record season in coach Eric Musselman’s second season.
For the first time since 1995, the Razorbacks finished the season ranked among the top 10 teams, including the first time since then the team has made it to an elite eight game. The last time the hogs were a three-seed team was in 1992.
Every game in march madness the Razorbacks fell by double digits leads but worked their way back into every game and won.
The hog’s impressive season was owed to players such as Justin Smith, Jalen Tate, Davonte Davis, and Moses Moody.
Freshman Moses Moody played a total of 1082 minutes scoring a total of 539 points for the season. His skills on the court helped the Razorbacks win a lot of their games this season including an 11 game SEC winning streak.
“Moses Moody is an absolute game-changer,” Razorback fan Kyle Cloutier says,” I have a feeling he will go first round in the NBA draft this year.”
Other team players such as graduate transfers Justin Smith and Jalen Tate brought in by Mussleman this season proved to be crucial throughout the season. Combined the two averaged 12.3 points per game. Behind Moody, they spent the most time on the court.
Freshman clutch player Davonte Davis had a very impressive NCAA tournament as well coming off the bench in the first two appearances against Colgate and Texas Tech. Scoring difficult shots in the paint and helping the hogs in most of their comeback situations this March.
“Devonte Davis had me on my feet most games this season,” Cloutier said,” I can’t wait to see how he develops this off-season and helps out the team next year.”
Razorback fans look forward to future success within the basketball program under coach Musselman in the coming years.
