FAYETTEVILLE- The Arkansas Razorback sports teams minus football have all been ranked in the top 25 national teams this year with Baseball ball being ranked number one.
Following in their footsteps the women’s Razorback track and field and cross country have all been ranked number one as well, with the men’s teams filling in at number three.
Razorback fans have been seen every week on Dickson street cheering on the basketball team as they are set to play in March Madness this year.
The men’s basketball team is ranked in the top 12 this year, with the women’s team not far behind at #13.
While the gymnastics team at the University was recently ranked 7th in the nation, the team is set to compete for the SEC then Regionals later this month. Team members Claire Rogers and Maddie Hickey say that their team is working more intentionally on their skills.
“Everybody on the team works hard everyday which is why we are the team that we are,” Roger’s said.
The gymnasists also stated that they are able to be ranked 7th in the nation due to the fact that their coaches are so caring of the girls ,and really help them in different aspects of their lives, not just training.
Just a block down the street the men and women’s track and field team are gearing up for nationals. Last year the athletes who qualified for nationals made it to New Mexico when the Pandemic began. That’s when they had to turn around and head home, causing the ending of their season.
“We have been working even harder since our season was taken away from us” Markus Ballengee said about last season.
Ballengee is a fifth year senior studying health and nutrition when he is not practicing on the field . He’s very excited being back in competitions this season and feels that their everyday training is paying off.
The softball team at the university is ranked 15th in the nation, and the team feels like their training is really paying off this season.
Softball player Braxton Burnside mentioned how they work year round preparing for each season, and that their post game season is what really helps them prepare. Preparation like this is the reason the team is highly respected amongst the SEC.
With all the Athletic departments in different parts of their competition season the Arkansas Razorbacks can prepare for teams bringing home gold throughout this semester.
