Pat Walker Health Center approved for vaccine distribution

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas announced that the Pat Walker Health Center has been approved for COVID-19 vaccine distribution by the Arkansas Department of Health.

At this time, the University has not been provided any vaccines to distribute to eligible staff and faculty who are a part of vaccine rollout phase 1-B. Vaccination clinics hosted by the U of A and pharmacies located off-campus still remain the primary methods of vaccination for those who are eligible.

The University also announced that over 1,000 employees have received both required doses of either the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine through clinics hosted by the U of A.

University of Arkansas Emergency Manager Matt Mills said the opportunities to receive a vaccine at a local pharmacy are important for employees to remember.

“Some may not realize that U of A employees can be vaccinated off campus if an opportunity becomes available,” Mills said. “So we want to reinforce that all eligible university employees can seek vaccination opportunities from any pharmacy or provider offering the vaccine.”

A problem facing the University and much of the country is that the demand far exceeds the current supply of the COVID-19 vaccine. Last week President Biden and his administration finalized the purchase of 200 million additional vaccine doses that could be available by May.

Employees who are able to secure a vaccine appointment must bring several forms of identification with them on their assigned date. These include a U of A photo ID, insurance card, driver’s license or another form of photo ID and the letter from the University confirming eligibility.

If receiving a second dose of either vaccine, you must bring your first dose confirmation card with you to your appointment.
