Appointments now required for on-campus COVID-19 vaccination clinics

By: Heidi Kirk

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — As the first on-campus vaccination clinic approaches, university officials are solidifying the details of the vaccination process for campus community members.

Initially, the pharmacy conducting vaccination clinics for the university planned to create a link for eligible university employees to sign up for an appointment, but due to the large number of U of A employees, those plans were revised.

The university is currently reaching out to employees individually in a prioritized manner by the individual’s age and scheduling appointments directly.

U of A Emergency Manager Matt Mills is contacting those employees that are age 65 or older to see if they would like to schedule an appointment.  Once this population has a chance to make an appointment, younger individuals will be contacted. At this time, only eligible employees that have made an appointment will be able to take part in the vaccination clinics on campus.

The first on-campus vaccinate clinic will take place on Saturday, Jan 23. University officials said other on-campus clinics are in the works, and the details will be communicated when they are finalized.

For an update on the COVID-19 vaccination process, employees can visit the vaccine portion of the Spring 2021 COVID-19 Response Guide. The guide will be updated with the latest information throughout the semester.
