FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Coronavirus cases continue to rise state, city, and campus-wide.
Holiday gatherings may amplify the increase. The City of Fayetteville Board of Health announced, in a media release, new guidelines to help slow the rise of cases and keep the community safe while celebrating the holidays.
The Board of Health asked for home gatherings to include no more than 10 people. This guideline is a recommendation and can not be enforced. Wearing a mask while in public and at home gatherings is also recommended, along with social distancing.
The guidelines also state socializing outdoors should take place whenever possible. When attending outdoor gatherings, masks and social distancing are encouraged.
According to the Board of Health, following guidelines is an essential part of stopping the spread of coronavirus and is especially crucial as local healthcare capacity is strained.
The University also announced guidelines around Thanksgiving travel. Coronavirus tests are encouraged for students before and after traveling.
