FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UATV) — In an email sent to students earlier today, provost Charles Robinson outlined the university’s preparations for the Spring 2021 semester.

Robinson announced that the Spring semester will begin on January 11 as scheduled, however, the traditional five-day Spring Break will be replaced with smaller breaks throughout the semester.

This includes two days off in February and March and one day off in April.

Robinson also addressed additional in-person courses for next semester.

He said the university does plan to offer more in-person classes and that faculty may require in person attendance for students enrolled in those courses.

“We remain committed to supporting our students by offering a variety of in-person, remote and hybrid courses to select from this coming spring semester,” Robinson said, “However, we do plan to offer more in-person classes and options for our students after learning more about COVID-19 and testing the effectiveness of our safety protocols in the classroom.

Faculty have been advised to determine their modes of instruction for spring courses by November 1 in order to help students plan their scheduling in advance.

The university will reassess the community’s public health situation in early January and may make changes to the course schedule if necessary.
