Campus Organizations Show Support to Students in Quarantine

By:  Lexy French FAYETTEVILLE, Ark – Associated Student Government and the Volunteer Action Center created care kits for students in isolation and quarantine.

The kits include multiple comforting items and activities.  U of A student Jack West is a part of the Associated Student Government and the Volunteer Action Center.

West said both groups came together to support fellow students in quarantine.

“We were worried about the isolating effects of that situation, so we thought ASG and VAC are two organizations that have a lot of influence on campus and primarily serve students, and we thought this was a great opportunity to do that,” West said.

Quarantined students can request items such as food, toiletries, and other essentials from housing directors. Students can also request a care kit, West said.

The kits will be available throughout the semester for those in isolation or quarantine on campus.

“We assembled 150 kits, so they are rolling out as students need them, and it is up to them to request them, and we think they will be needed throughout the semester.”

The purpose of the care kits are to give students things to do,  encourage, and support them through this difficult time. Included are items such as journals, fuzzy socks, colored pencils, and other self – care-related items and activities.
