Changes Announced for UA Parking

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The UA Transit and Parking Department announced several changes for the semester Sept. 21.

Transit and Parking officials reported that they will no longer send email notifications ahead of athletic events. In the past, these emails reminded motorists to remove vehicles from athletic event parking areas.

Officials have developed an Outlook calendar to more efficiently communicate these dates. A set of instructions to set up the calendar can be found on the Transit and Parking website.

Transit and Parking Communications Director David Wilson said this new method of  communication gives students and faculty the opportunity to opt in or out of the notifications.

“The calendar reminder gives people a chance to make sure that something pops up to remind them if there is a situation if lots need to be cleared, but only if they want it,” Wilson said.

Wilson also said that emails will be sent in the event of an unexpected parking situation that may not be previously updated on the calendar.

Additionally, the department notified students that there are fewer lots that must be vacated this season due to lower attendance as a result of COVID-19.

Lots 38, 52, 54, 56B, 56D, 57, 57A, 60, 68D, 71, 78, 78A and 80 will not need to be vacated prior to football games this season.

Wilson wants students to be aware that these changes are only a temporary amendment due to the virus precautions, he said.

Vehicles that are not removed from current athletic lots will be cited and relocated to parking lot 99 on Beechwood Avenue to be collected with a fine.

Transit and Parking posts frequent reminders on their social media and Wilson said that he encourages students and faculty to follow their accounts to keep up to date.
