National Hazing Prevention Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas is observing National Hazing Prevention until Friday. The week is filled with information and sessions to inform students and the greek life community on the dangers of hazing.

Greek Life Director, Parice Bowser said there is a lot students can take away from this week.

“Our goal is for students to be able to identify various hazing acts, as well as condemn hazing on all levels.”

Like other college campuses across the nation, The University of Arkansas observes NHPW to raise awareness about the problem of hazing in the greek life community. This year the U of A’s theme is “Reshaping the Process.”

“This week provides us with another opportunity to educate our Greek members about hazing and how to prevent it from occurring on our campus.”

Bowser said so far NHPW has been very impactful to the campus. “Students have heard from parents who lost their children as result of hazing… These conversations help to put things into perspective” said Bowser.

There are various ways to report a hazing incident on campus. “Students may contact our office directly at gogreek@uark.edu.” Bowser said, “students may also complete an online form at report.uark.edu.”

Scheduled events for the rest of National Hazing Prevention Week can be found on Arkansas Newswire.
