Students Can Submit Personal Portraits to The Razorback

By: Lizzy Lankford

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas yearbook, The Razorback, is allowing students to submit a portrait of themselves for the 2020 – 2021 edition of the yearbook.

The Razorback editor, Sarah Rawls said the yearbook has decided to take individual submissions, rather than holding a photo day due to COVID.

“Besides the fact that we can’t hold an individual photo day anyway… they’re honestly worth more money and time than anything we get out of it” said Rawls.

Rawls, said the yearbook decided to make this change in hopes that it would encourage students to pick up a yearbook if they’re in it.

“I decided that we would take individual submissions from students, I think this will work a lot better… it’s easy to do and on top of that [students] get to pick what they look like.” said Rawls.

According to The Razorback yearbook website, students should make sure their photos do not have “a non-distracting background, no filter, upper body only, visible face, and appropriateness.”

To submit a photo, students can fill out the google doc on the yearbook instagram page or online at https://razorbackyearbook.uark.edu/ under the submissions page by April 1, 2020.

Examples of acceptable photos and more information regarding the requirements can also be found on The Razorback yearbook website.
Any questions regarding the portrait a student is wanting to submit can be directed to the yearbook email at: yearbook@uark.edu.
