The Bakery That Keeps on Rockin’

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The whole world seems to be turning upside down due to Coronavirus. There are so many businesses shutting down, unable to pay their employees or make money.

Local business, Rockin’ Baker, is a non-profit organization that allows people with intellectual abilities to work. They’ve been in business a little over three years now.

“I’m a strong believer that just giving money does not work. If you are provided education and training that you need, then you have increased your chances of becoming more successful,” Daymara Baker, CEO and Founder of Rockin’ Baker, said.

Rockin’ Baker has been doing something unique during its time of being closed. They teamed up with Seeds that Feed, a sort of mobile food bank.

“Seeds That Feed works alongside farmers to move excess foods to accessible foods, making eating healthier a reality for thousands of our neighbors who are not always as fortunate,” Seedsthatfeed.org said. They do this through the collection and redistribution of surplus foods from farms and retailers to under-resourced populations.

“I’m very proud to say we are going to be passing almost eight thousand servings when we are done today,” Baker said, referring to the number of servings donated to Seeds that Feed.

It is thanks to the help from supporters and other organizations that Baker is able to keep donating to the less fortunate. Rockin’ Baker is still graciously accepting any donations of money or ingredients.
