FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The first week of March represents Women’s Empowerment week and the University of Arkansas has plans to celebrate.
A Registered Student Organization, Students Advocating for Stronger Sisterhood, will help students learn and celebrate women’s empowerment.
“Our organization is about promoting friendship and unity among women at the University of Arkansas. We focus on women of color but are for anyone to come be part of a safe haven for women on campus,” Jakayla Storey, President of SASS, said.
A variety of events will begin this week and kicks off Monday at 6:30 p.m. with a discussion that will educate students about African-American women in music followed by a “Lit Karaoke” located in the Arkansas Union.
More events this week will cover African-American women in paintings and historic cultural line dances.
