FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Due to the ongoing renewal of Mullins Library, students are not able to access the third and fourth floors. This has lead to an increase of traffic on the first and second floors.
“More students are studying on the first floor than ever, probably,” said Kelsey Lovewell Lippard, the director of public relations for the University of Arkansas Libraries.
She said the first floor gets overlooked often, but they’ve added seating and it’s relatively quiet.
David Fortner, a sophomore computer science major, moved to the first floor after losing access to the third and fourth.
“When I didn’t have anything to do, I would go up there to study basically,” he said.
Fortner said he liked using the upper floors because of how quiet they are.
“It says summer 2021, it’s over a year isn’t it? Which I’m not too thrilled about.” Fortner said.
Students expressed concerns that finals week might get hectic.
“Oh yeah I think finals weeks are just gonna be hell,” he said.
The floors are undergoing a process that should provide an abatement of the asbestos by April 30.
