Fayetteville, Ark. (UATV) — A new name will soon join the long list of Razorback quarterbacks past and present.
Former Florida quarterback Feleipe Franks announced on his Instagram account that he will transfer to Arkansas and join the team as a graduate student.
Franks will become the most experienced starting quarterback in Arkansas’ system, which currently includes John Stephen Jones, KJ Jefferson and Jack Lindsey. Last season, the Razorbacks struggled to find consistency at the position as five different names started games in 2019.
“The quarterback position for Arkansas was a major problem last year, but you can’t blame all of the team’s problems on that one position,” said Josh Bertaccini, host of “The Red Zone with JB” on 92.1 The Ticket.
Bertaccini said one of the biggest things Franks will bring to the table is his three years of experience as a starter in the SEC, including a noteworthy successful sophomore year with the Gators.
New Razorback head coach Sam Pittman and offensive coordinator Kendal Briles will need to get the offense to buy into yet another new Hog quarterback.
“Confidence is everything and that’s what you have to have in your [quarterback], and that’s what he has to have in himself,” said former Razorback offensive linemen Colton Jackson.
Franks and the Razorbacks will return to the field this September to try to improve upon two straight two and ten seasons.
