FAYETTEVILLE, Ark— Health professionals confirmed nine cases of a highly contagious virus with more under investigation.
Assistant director of communications for Pat Walker health center Zac Brown said “Arkansas state law requires that any student enrolled into the University of Arkansas is required to have two doses of the MMR vaccine.”
Students need to be on the lookout for the symptoms of mumps:
- Pain in the swollen salivary glands on one or both sides of your face.
- Pain while chewing or swallowing.
- Fever.
- Headache.
- Muscle aches.
- Weakness and fatigue.
- Loss of appetite.
People who think they might have contracted the virus need to contact Pat Walker health center.
