FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The original design of the popular video game character for his live action movie had fans very upset.
The anticipated movie had its first trailer drop with a Sonic that fans said barely resembled the blue blur they had grown up loving.
“An atrocious recreation perfect for its rancid fanbase,” said Marc Aranibar, a University of Arkansas student.
After the backlash, the movie changed its planned release date from November of 2019 to February of 2020 so they could change how Sonic looked in the movie.
The newest trailer dropped November 12th and it reached number one on the YouTube trending page.
Fans immediately supported the new design.
“Much more sound, deserving, and truthful for the public to see what really is Sonic the Hedgehog,” Aranibar said.
Tyler Schnieders, another University of Arkansas student, said, “it makes the trailer so much better.”
He added the comedy worked now and he “laughed instead of cringed.”
