Halloween is over which brings us into the season of giving. Jeff Ward Pediatric Dentistry participates in their fourth annual Halloween Candy Buy Back. The office has teamed up with Operation Gratitude which sends all of the collected candy to American military members who are serving overseas.
“The big thing is is to get candy off the streets like Dr. Ward would say and not having too much candy. It goes to a good cause and it keeps kids involved in giving back,” Dental Assistant Julie Partain said.
Kids pick out their favorite candy and send the leftovers to the dentist’s office in exchange for one dollar per pound.
“They are very excited when they come in and a lot of them don’t expect to get the money, it’s just an extra bonus just the benefit of them getting to actually donate to a good cause,” Partain said.
The kids not only donate candy, but also write letters to make the troops overseas feel like they are at home.
