Fayetteville, ARK. – The Athletics Department is adding new and improved security measures to three venues within the next year. Bud Walton Arena, Baum-Walker Stadium, and Razorback Stadium are getting upgraded with walk through metal detectors.
While the goal is to enhance security, minimizing inconvenience is another point of interest. Fans will not have to take out items like phones, keys, or coins out of their pocket.
“As we enhance our security measures at our venues, we have also made efforts to expedite entry and minimize the inconvenience for our guests,” said Hunter Yuracheck, Director of Athletics.
Bud Walton Arena will be the first to host the new technology. Baum-Walker will begin using them in the spring, Razorback Stadium in the fall of 2020.
Fans will have to walk through the metal detectors before scanning their tickets. There are signs posted across all venues which have prohibited items displayed.
