FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — October is here and for UREC it means the fifth annual FITOBER begins.
For the entire month, students and faculty are challenged to stay active and complete 600 minutes of exercise by the end of the month. UREC recommends 150 minutes each week.
In the past, FITOBER only counted walking and running minutes, however now UREC will count all minutes of physical activity.
Students and faculty who complete this feat will receive performance socks and be entered into a raffle for more prizes that have yet to be announced.
Casey Fant, an assistant director at UREC, addressed students who might want to join but aren’t sure.
“Go ahead and join, just do a few minutes at a time,” she said.
The goal of the program is to promote a healthy lifestyle for people on campus, so even if you aren’t able to do the full 150 minutes a week, you can still find benefits from participating.
550 participants took part in FITOBER last year.
