Uark Offers New Ways for Students to Get Involved

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Panhellenic community gave out 1,349 bids last Saturday during Bid Day at the Chi Omega Greek Theater. Of the incoming freshman class, 60% decided to join Greek Life, making the UofA the largest sorority recruitment in the nation. While Greek Life offers many opportunities to get involved on campus, it is not the only option for students.

The UofA currently offers 364 Registered Student Organizations, to keep students involved during their time on campus. As student-led organizations, this community allows students to create, run and budget groups based on similar interests. Students can visit hogsync.uark.edu to explore and register for these organizations.

For those interested in volunteering throughout the community, the Volunteer Action Center provides easy access to do so.

“We have main programs that have semester-long volunteer opportunities,” VAC President Zan Johnson said. “We also coordinate other events that are shorter in length…to just try and get the campus as involved with volunteering and giving back to the community as possible.”

The VAC offers five programs where students can give back through different outlets. Johnson said there are a variety of ways students can get involved in the VAC, one of the largest being Make A Difference Day in October. Information regarding upcoming events can be found through the VAC social media accounts and website. Applications to get involved are now open for the fall 2019 semester at volunteer.uark.edu.
