FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas World Trade Center works to bring businesses and agencies together to strengthen international trade to put Arkansas’ resources more on the map.

Along with doing data and trade research, the World Trade Center works to schedule diplomatic visits to northwest Arkansas and the university.

In early February the consul general of the Bahamas in Atlanta, Astra Armbrister- Rolle paid the university a visit. Her appearance was made possible by Trade Center intern, Matthew Guzak.

“Her main focus in coming here was not only to meet with Tyson and to talk about what business opportunities might be in the Bahamas for them, but to also meet with Bahamian students who attend the UofA and not only just figure out who they are but get to know them and kinda create a point of contact to continue connecting with them,” Guzak explained.

Guzak was able to set up meetings with company executives at Tyson foods so they could talk business with the consul general.

One of Armbrister- Rolle’s main goals is to promote increased education opportunities for Bahamians.

The Bahamas also wants to up its economics and create new plans to ship their resources faster and cheaper. All of that can happen with the help of Bahamian students here at the university.
