UofA Faculty Helps Students Revise Resumes During Walk-In Wednesdays

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Graduation is approaching quickly and many students have their future jobs on their minds. But in order to land that job you’ve got to be prepared.

The Career Development Center on campus offers Walk-In Wednesdays every week.

The center works to review and edit your resume, hold mock interviews and offer advice on how to cater your information towards specific positions.

“It’s not just about, oh here’s your resume it looks good you need to make these changes,” said KayLee Simmons the Director of Career Education. “We’re also having a conversation about what you’re using this resume for because what you emphasize could be different if you’re applying for scholarships, or a leadership position, or graduate school as opposed to a job or internship.”

Simmons said the biggest mistake students make when building their resume is they don’t tailor it to each specific job that they are applying for.

The importance of Walk-In Wednesdays is to make sure that your resume doesn’t end up in the trash pile.
