FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.–This summer, the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design will add two more camps to their annual Design Camp program.
The new locations will be at the Amazeum in Bentonville and in El Dorado at the South Arkansas Arts Center.
This will make it a total of six cities in Arkansas that support the program. There are already camps in Fayetteville, Wilson, Little Rock and Hot Springs.
The camp is designed to encourage high school students to pursue architecture as a career. The camp’s attendance has risen to 250, which is 100 more students than last year.
“If you’re interested in building things, architecture doesn’t seem to be a career that a lot of students think about. So we’re really just trying to make them aware if nothing else, that this is an option for them,” said Alison Turner, Director of Community Education at the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design.
There will be two camps in Fayetteville this summer for interested high school students. The first session will be from June 10-14, and the second one will be from July 8-12.
