FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Reality can often be disappointing, as Thanos says. But if the first reviews of Avengers: Endgame are any indication, moviegoers in northwest Arkansas will not be let down whatsoever.
Half of all life may have been wiped out in the Marvel Cinematic Universe last year, but half the entire real universe might as well be crowding theater seats come Thursday night. Multiple ticketing websites even crashed from online traffic when sales went public in early April.
Freshman Jeff Blackwood was among the first fans who bought tickets early.
“My sister and her friends who are going with us,” Blackwood said, “we all got reserve seating in the middle of the theater the day (pre-sale tickets) opened.”
Sophomore Jared Harris said he settled for a Saturday night showing but enjoys the prospect of reserving a seat ahead of time.
“You can get there later,” Harris said. “It kinda just means you can go at your leisure and there’s not a giant mess of people standing in the lobby area of the theater. (They’re) just outside the theater.”
AMC has already announced more than 60 of its theaters will be open round the clock for opening weekend. Some are planning to be open for 72 hours straight – just for Endgame. Tickets at the Fiesta Square location are accessible here.
Malco Razorback Cinema will also have its fair share of preparation. It’s planning to add staffing, police and security presence, and set up waiting areas outside each room all weekend. Tickets for its location on Joyce Blvd. can be found here.
