Checking Cars Before Long Road Trips

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.–With summer approaching in a few weeks, students are set to leave campus for a few months and drive home.

Before driving home, students should check their vehicles to make sure they are safe for travel, and won’t pose a travel hazard.

“Tire checks, for the pressure, windshield washer fluids and give you information if they need to be changed and your lighting,” said Corporal Allen Porter.

UAPD will take a look your car to see if it’s okay to drive, but if there is a bigger issue that they aren’t able to fix, they refer you to the Grease Pig on Martin Luther King Ave.

Students don’t often think to look under the hood, but it’s something that should be checked before a long road trip.

On the car, the most visible things such as the tires are always the best maintained, said Porter.

Once you are on the road, if something in the car doesn’t feel right, it’s better to play it safe and pull over. Otherwise, it could create a much more expensive issue.
