BikeNWA hosts ‘Open Streets’ in Fayetteville

by Sam Hathaway

A local organization that promotes biking in Northwest Arkansas hosted a street party in Fayetteville on Sunday, March 31.

BikeNWA hosted the event from noon until 4 p.m. at the corner of Prairie Street and Government Avenue, just off of MLK Boulevard. The organization closed the street and featured many activities, including Jenga, a bounce house, bike demos, live music, free yoga, food trucks and more.

“We’re re-imagining what it’s like to be in the streets without vehicles. It’s the idea of mobility and being able to ride, dance, play, bounce, whatever your heart desires. It’s about engaging and interacting with the community,” said Bianca Montoya, the Communications and Marketing Director of BikeNWA.

The organization plans to host several other ‘Open Streets’ events in Bentonville on June 2, Springdale on July 21, and Rogers on September 21. These dates are tentative and are subject to change. For more information regarding these dates, visit www.bikenwa.org/openstreets.
