FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.–The International Students and Scholars Association held their annual event they call a cultural immersion on Saturday. This year’s experience was a traditional Polish wedding. Cynthia Smith, the Associate Director of Outreach, said this is a program meant to make people feel like they had crossed the boundaries of a country and into the cultural experience.
Students attending ate authentic food, played games and sang songs in Polish. “It’s a really hard language,” said Cynthia. The event took a special meaning for the bride and groom. Paulina and Tobias are international students from Poland and they are engaged to be married. While the real thing will take place in Poland, Paulina and Tobias’s parents attended the Polish immersion in Arkansas.
“This is probably my favorite event that we had done all year just because it was such a fun and festive environment,” said Cynthia.
