Law Enforcement Officials Come to Campus for Conference

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.–This week, the University of Arkansas hosted a Conference held by the International Association for Campus Law Enforcement administrators for Middle America. The University of Arkansas is among many college campuses in what is considered the mid-America region of the United States.

“When we come together as a regional group, we get to know each other a lot better and we do a lot of networking so we can exchange names and numbers and make calls when we need to if we need help or have questions on any topic regarding administration, law enforcement response, use of force, technology, and such,” said Steve Gahagans, Chief of UAPD.

Law enforcement administrators from Minnesota to Missouri came to the conference to talk about the law enforcement topics of the day. Among them were school shootings.

“We spoke about officer involved shootings as you know Washington county sheriff’s office has been involved in several shootings and so we brought some representatives from that agency to come in and talk about the raw feelings of what that was like,” said Gahagans.

The international conference will take place in Vancouver, Canada this summer.
