Fayetteville, ARK — The Walton Arts Center will host a national singing competition for vocal groups next week.

The VoiceJam is a cappella festival includes judged performances and workshops. Competitors of all ages will travel to Northwest Arkansas from around the country, including collegiate groups from California, Colorado, Florida and a high school group from Arkansas.

University of Arkansas senior Charl Young sang in an a cappella group last year as part of the event.

“It was fun working with a professional vocal music director. He made it easy to learn, and everyone was able to jump right in,” Young said. “He made me want to kick start my a cappella career.”

The winning group receives automatic entry to participate in the Vocal Asia Festival in Japan in August. Audiences can cast their vote for fan favorite. The event kicks off April 4 and runs through April 6. Tickets are available online.
