UofA Offers Help to Students With Eating Disorders

By Sven Larson

Fayetteville, Ark.– For most students eating isn’t something one thinks too much about, but for others it can be a difficult choice.

According to the National Eating Disorders Association, eating disorders affect around 30 million people in the U.S.

When only thinking of college students the NEDA predicts roughly 10 to 20 percent of female college students and 4 to 10 percent of male college students will suffer from an eating disorder.

Most eating disorders begin their full fledged effects when a person is around the ages of 18-21. This is also the most crucial time to get help.

The UofA offers counseling as well as psychological services at the Pat Walker Health Center for any student who is in need of help. Counselors offer therapy for anyone who may be going through any form of disorder and can help students get the help that they need to get through it.
