Fayetteville, Ark. – The North American Saxophone Alliance honors the University of Arkansas School of Music by holding its annual convention on campus. 400 Saxophonists are expected to attend.

Students will get the opportunity to enjoy over 130 events featuring an international roster of guest artists from Japan and the United Kingdom. Eric Troiano, the School of Music’s Saxophone Instructor, said this event represents a chance for his department to shine.

“Hosting the North American Saxophone Alliance Region IV Conference is a great opportunity for the U of A department of music to gain a more global reputation and showcase the incredible artistry and musicianship of our entire department,” Troiano said.

Students in the department of music will be heavily involved in performance and behind the scenes elements of the conference, Troiano said.

As well as international guests, local musicians from the Northwest Arkansas area will perform a series of free concerts to be presented at the Jim and Joyce Faulkner Performing Arts Center. The concert series begins on Thursday with the Saxophone Ensemble and Wind Symphony and concludes Sunday with a recital by NASA Region 4 Saxophone Orchestra.
