UAPD Teams up With Students to Stop Sexual Assults

by Haley Berley

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — After two reports of sexual assault were filed by Campus Security, students are taking safety on campus into their own hands.

If a report is filed with a Campus Security Authority, like an RA or a bus driver, and not the police, the individual stays anonymous, and the police department can not investigate the case. According to the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network, only 20 of female student victims actually report to law enforcement.

To take safety into their own hands, students have teamed up with local organizations and police to make sure this doesn’t become a common occurrence.
