FAYETTEVILLE, Ark – After serving the University of Arkansas for almost 25 years as a Film Documentary professor, Dale Carpenter officially seeks retirement.
Carpenter joined the university in 1994, and has dedicated his life to guiding students in the creative process of documentary film production, and story telling. He presents lectures in classes and shares his experiences in the business.
“I’ll miss the students, and I’ll miss my colleagues, and I won’t really be gone, but I won’t get to see them as much,” Carpenter said.
Before becoming a part of the Razorback family, Carpenter was Senior Producer for the Arkansas Educational Television Network in Conway, Arkansas. He spent ten years there producing and editing documentaries for television. Carpenter’s documentaries covered many different topics from baseball to the Civil War.
Carpenter’s work has received many awards such as New York Festival gold medals, a Golden “CINDY” award, the “IRIS” award, and a total of seven regional “Emmys” from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Last night Carpenter gave a lecture for the last time in the Film documentary class. This will be Carpenter’s final semester at the U of A.
