Most people are familiar with the wild shopping events that follow Thanksgiving such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. However, there is a day dedicated to giving back rather than buying.
Giving Tuesday falls on the Tuesday after every Thanksgiving. The main purpose of this movement is to bring awareness to the charitable season. This movement that supports philanthropy is made know by the popular #GivingTuesday that is tossed around with the help of social media.
A tweet from @GivingTues, on Twitter says, “#GivingTuesday transcends borders and ideologies, to bring the entire world together in the spirit of generosity and giving.
So far $300 million have been raised online. Whether it is your time, donations, a gift, or speaking out for an organization, every helping hand is welcomed.
