FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- Winter arrives in Fayetteville and that comes with freezing temperatures, which could affect your home.
The City of Fayetteville sent out a release on their website to remind residents to prepare their homes for winter. According to US News & World Report approximately 75% of students live off campus, putting them at risk for frozen pipes.
The City of Fayetteville release recommends that you cover all foundation vents before freezing weather.
During sub freezing temperatures you should close garage doors and open your cabinets to expose pipes to room temperature according to the releases.
According to the release homeowners should also leave heat settings on low if they plan to be out of their houses for long periods of time.
If you suspect that your pipes have frozen over you should contact the Fayetteville Water/Sewer Operations at 479-587-3555.
