Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— Salvation Army plans on providing new clothes and toys to children in need, this season with the help of the local community.

The annual Angel Tree program allows local residents to contribute, by removing one or more tags from the Angel tree. All Angel Tree donations can be attached with the same tag and returned to the location where the tags were picked up.

“The Angel Tree program was created in 1979 by Majors Charles and Shirley White when they worked in a Virginia shopping mall to provide new clothing and toys for children around Christmas time,” said Katie Morris, Public Relations of the Salvation Army NWA.

One of the purpose of this program is to eliminate the cost of toys/gifts that would normally be part of the Salvation Army’s holiday expenses, allowing more funding to be available for emergency needs such as food, clothing, shelter, rental assistance, and fuel assistance.

These trees can be located at your local Walmart’s in Fayetteville, Springdale, Bentonville and Rogers.
The tree’s stay up until all the tags have been taken.

The last day to turn in any donations is December 8th!
