Fayetteville Public Library, Food for Fees Program

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— Patrons of the Fayetteville Public Library can reduce their fees by helping those in need in the community.

Library patrons can bring in canned goods and non-perishable items during the Food for Fees week and receive credit on their overdue fees.

“Our Food for Fees program began over 10 years ago as a way to allow patrons an opportunity to pay off fines while at the same time helping members of the community,” said Steve Litzinger, the Director of Marketing and Communications at the Fayetteville Public Library.

For each can or box of food donated during the drive, library patrons will receive a $1 wave on overdue fees.

“All of the food items donated go to Cooperative Emergency Outreach, an organization that provides emergency assistance to residents in parts of Washington County,” said Steve Litzinger.

The program will not cover replacement fees for lost or damaged materials.

Unopened, unexpired, non-perishable, non-glass donations will be accepted.

Donation should be brought to the checkout desk along with library cards.

The program week runs from November 12th through the 18th.
